Leaving Launceston we wound our way back out towards the Bass Hwy heading in a westerly direction towards Burnie. During our stay in Launceston we had tried several routes in the car to try to find an easier way bypassing all the hills but alas no success so just went out the way we came in.
We had to decide which way we wanted to go from St Helens to Launceston. We could either go via Scottsdale on the A3 or head back and go through St Marys and Fingal along the A4. We had sampled some of the A3 towards Scottsdale and there were several steep passes along narrow roads we had driven through before you even get to Scottsdale. Along the A4 there was only one to negociate St Marys.
Leaving Sorell we headed North up the east coast towards the much talked about Bay of Fires near St Helens. Along the way we will be passing through Freyceinet National Park to check out the other much talked about attraction Wine Glass Bay.
We tried to stay some extra days in Hobart but the caravan park was all booked out over the long weekend so we packed up and headed off towards Port Arthur our next destination. Being a long weekend we thought the park at Port Arthur would also be booked out so we decided to stop at a free camp at the town of Sorell approx 25 Km from Hobart.
